1.0 Introduction to this Toolkit
This toolkit contains methods that aim to achieve a meaningful and quality interaction between people, whether between locals and newcomers, or more generally, between locals and anyone arriving from outside this community who wishes to reach out to others. The end goal is to facilitate making connections between people, in order to create empathy and understanding that can help foster friendships, and ultimately, help build community.
For that, the interaction that is preferred when exercising this Toolkit, is face-to-face, in real-time, and on-site. This means facilitating the experience in various innovative and targeted ways that get people to socialize in public spaces. This does not exclude any online methods, such as websites, testimonial videos, podcasts, social media feeds, etc., that can help create connections between people. You can adapt these tools through your own cultural lenses in order to better tell your story and communicate the message that you feel the community should know. This will allow participants to reflect, empathize, and take something with them that would help shape their attitudes toward immigration.
If you know of, or are already using, a method that you feel should be part of this toolkit, please let us know so that this resource can be updated.
